Does Jessica Sanchez's debut single "Tonight" promises a lot?
I asked that question after hearing and watching the music video from YouTube.
Can her debut single bring her to the success that all her fans are praying for? Will it be enough to put Jessica on top of the music scene?
Being a Filipino myself, I am proud of Jessica's talent and vocal prowess; however, like Charice, Jessica is starting a career of herself in the wings of safe-playing musical producers who doesn't seem to know how talented this girl is.
Honestly speaking, "Tonight" (video below) does not bring up anything new out of the fresh and charming Jessica Sanchez. Like Charice, the producers decided to tap another talented artist to have a duet with them to gain some attention.

I felt that it would have been better if they'll release a single where Jessica can truly show her singing style and vocal range. The producers should take risk of Jessica's talent, and make a worthy album that fans will love. Critics on the other hand have always something to say but the record producers should make an effort to at least please them, especially now that Jessica is starting what else could be the best way to start things? A Grammy nod maybe?! Not bad for someone as talented as Jessica right?!
I'm hoping though that once her debut album is out, it will include some well-written standards and ballads, which I think suits better on Jessica's singing style. With the range and dynamics this girl has, she'll be unique and different from her contemporaries in the music scene.
By the way, "Tonight" featuring Ne-Yo is available in iTunes and her full-length record "Me, You and the Music" will be released on April 30, 2013 under Interscope Records.
How's that for a thought?!
